It’s been a while …

Hello Everyone!

Summer has been crazy and I’ve been super busy BUT I’m back to share some exciting news …

This coming fall I am starting Beauty School and I couldn’t be more excited! Hair and makeup have always been a fascination of mine. Over these past couple of years that fascination has turned into a passion. I’ve always loved the idea of being able to make ladies feel their prettiest whether that be by doing their hair, makeup or both!

I’ve done a post before about a few of my favorite hair products but today I’m gonna switch it up and do some makeup/face products.

Today I had the day off and decided to make a trip to Ulta (the best hair/makeup store EVER) to re supply some of my products and of course to get some new ones as well.

Let’s start with some face primers since thats the first step in my daily routine …

IMG_0154  Ok so let me be honest, I haven’t used this one yet BUT I watch so many (literally hundreds) of youtube makeup tutorial videos and almost everyone uses this primer and raves about it – so today I got it and I’m super excited to use it!

IMG_0159 Next I have the NYX CC color correcting primer creme … this stuff is a miracle worker. I always use this after my primer to get rid of any redness. This stuff does exactly what is says – it’s the best. If you ever have redness after washing your face in the morning then this is your go to! This you can just get at target!

IMG_0160 Ok I cannot rave enough about this product. First off, BareMinerals is one of my favorite brands. You always see those tutorial videos where the girl will put on her first foundation and already looks like she has flawless skin? well I always do and I’ve been so annoyed that I could never find a product that does that until I found THIS. You also barely need to put any on so this little bottle lasts forever.

IMG_0151 Here is another product that I have not used yet but I got this one today because I always hear about eyelash primers making such a difference with the end result of your eyelashes so will definitely give this one a try tomorrow!

IMG_0152 Weird name for a mascara, I know but honestly discovering this mascara a little over a year ago has been the best thing ever. I have very short eyelashes so any mascara that can give them some length and volume will be my new best friend and this one does the job! I was so obsessed with this after I first bought it that I made my best friend go buy it as well and now she’s hooked.

IMG_0157 IMG_0158 Finally I got myself to spend the money to get this FABULOUS highlighter kit. Anastasia Beverly Hills, another one of my favorite makeup brands (especially their dipbrow eyebrow filler) has a few of these beautiful glow highlighter and contouring kits. They are so SPARKLY I love it. I just bought this one today but I had to try it as soon as I got home and it comes out just as pretty as it looks.

IMG_0156 I have found this finishing powder to be my favorite out of a bunch that I’ve tried. NYX is also a really great brand that is affordable and available at target! (always a plus, who doesn’t love target) I really love this finishing powder because it not only blends everything together really well but it does a good job of keeping my makeup in place and set for the day.

My best friend just got me this NAKED urban decay (another FABULOUS brand) eyeshadow pallet for my birthday and I cannot stop using it. ITS SO PRETTY. I love all the colors in it and I hope I don’t use it all up too quick!

A few of my favorite things …

Phew, finally a non recipe post.

I have been buying way too many hair and makeup products recently, but I LOVE them all so I thought I’d share them with you!

Let’s start with hair. I am always trying to find hair products that make my hair feel healthy, thick and smooth. I’ve always felt like to get the really good stuff you gotta spend the money. Not true. Most of the products I have gotten that work really well are not at a bad price tag at all.

One of my favorite brands is, “Not Your Mother’s” … I love ALL their products. Honestly.

I hate the feeling of dry hair. hate it. Every once in a while my hair gets like this and it drives me crazy, especially when I can’t find anything to fix it. Just a couple weeks ago I started using Coconut Water Hydration Oil. LIFE SAVER. This stuff works so well. I noticed a difference even after my first use and as a bonus it smells SO good.

Ok let me share with you one more of my favorite hair products. DETANGLER. I’ve never really used a bad hair detangler but the one I now use is my favorite. I’m used to spraying all over so I can easily brush through my wet hair but this product I just do a quick spray underneath and on top then I’m ready to brush or comb through. Works great!

Alright for now I am just gonna share one of my favorite makeup brands but I’ll be back soon to share more! But lets start with one of my most recent favorites, SMASHBOX. I just LOVE all their stuff. Their lip gloss/lip stick colors are FAB. I love nudes and light pinks personally and they have a great selection of those and all other shades as well.

Keep Calm and Eat a (healthy) Cookie

Ok ok I promise I won’t make this blog turn into a cookbook. BUT I can’t help but share these delicious yet healthy recipes that I try and love.

I have a hard time trying to find healthy cookie recipes that I actually think are delicious, but I promise you, these ones are very good!

Here’s the recipe for you to try:

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 tablespoons dark brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1 and 1/2 cups oat flour (regular oats blended)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Take regular old fashioned oats or quick oats and blend them until they resemble a flour or powder in a blender or food processor.
  2. Combine the vanilla extract, large egg, and brown sugar in a bowl. Melt the coconut oil and let it cool slightly before adding to the bowl. Beat everything together until just combined.
  3. Stir in the oat flour (measured after blending NOT before), baking soda, cinnamon (scale this amount to taste preferences), and salt.
  4. Stir until just combined and then fold in the dark chocolate chips.
  5. Chill the dough for at least one hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  7. Using a cookie scoop (and pack these in the scoop very tightly or they may crumble), scoop out balls of the dough onto a parchment lined cookie sheet. Press a few more chocolate chips in the tops if desired.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned around the edges.
  9. Remove and allow to stay on the baking sheet for another 2 minutes before removing to a wire cooling rack.
  10. Enjoy!

On Tonight’s Menu: Fajitas

Cooking has become something that I take a lot of pride in. Luckily my mom doesn’t mind me taking over the kitchen most nights to cook dinner. In fact, I’m sure she loves it. Gives her a break from making dinner and she gets to sit down and enjoy a nice meal that I made! For me the most enjoyable thing is to be in the kitchen cooking with HGTV (preferably Fixer Upper) on in the living room.

Most of the time the recipes I make up or the ones I choose aren’t too complicated but I love the challenge of a large recipe with a great deal of instructions!

Anyways, on to tonight’s dinner … tonight I made Fajitas and they were SO yummy! It’s always a good sign when my dad asks for some to bring to lunch the next day 🙂 Super easy to make too!

There aren’t too many items you need to make these yummy fajitas! Here they are …

  1. 2 bell peppers
  2. 1 red onion
  3. 2-3 chicken breasts
  4. a package of tortilla wraps
  5. olive oil
  6. shredded cheese
  7. fajita seasoning or sauce (I prefer sauce)
  8. sour cream/salsa/guacamole (whatever ones you like!)

Mason Jar Meals

Here we go again, another recipe review because you gotta try this one! If you are an oatmeal lover you’re gonna love this one! As I scroll through Pinterest (when am I not), there’s always tons of healthy meal choices throughout my newsfeed. It’s so easy to click the pin button cause you always think you’re gonna make the recipe but never actually do to it. I mean common, who hasn’t done this? I do it all the time. Especially when it’s a complicated one. Anyways … I kept pinning lots of these “overnight oats” recipes that looked delicious and healthy, which is always a plus!  I decided to try it last night and had to of course make it in a mason jar just like every other pinner that had made this meal. First off, this recipe was SUPER easy and took maybe 5 minutes to put it all together.

Here’s the delicious recipe you should definitely try!

  • 1 8oz mason jar
  • 1 cup of yogurt ( I used light and fit vanilla)
  • 1/4 cup of oats
  • 2 tablespoons of milk
  • 2 teaspoons of chia seeds
  • 1/3 – 1/2 cup of fruit (I choose blueberries and bananas .. you can do whatever!)

Mix it all together and place in the fridge and it will be ready for you in the morning!

No Bake Protein Bites

Hello Again!

Looking for an easy, healthy and filling snack to take on the go? Something to grab while running out the door? These no bake peanut butter chocolate bites are the perfection option!

I made a big batch of these today and it took me all of 15 minutes! Super easy to make and you don’t even have to worry about baking them. Once you make them you just throw them right in the fridge!

Of course you can choose to add in whatever you want to your protein bites. For example, some yummy things you can add in are: coconut, chia seeds, flax seed, etc.

Here is what I made my protein bites out of:

  • chocolate protein powder
  • honey
  • oats
  • vanilla extract
  • chocolate chips
  • peanut butter

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on my blog but why not use the new year as a time to start it up again!

As each new year rolls around I find myself looking for new daily devotional books to read. My friend and I are currently finishing up one of my favorite ones that we’ve done thus far. The Best Yes by Lysa Terkeurst is one of my favorites because it is extremely relatable for young women. It is filled with examples of day to day things that us normal young Christian women struggle with. There are so many great daily devotionals out there but sometimes it can be complicated to find one that can be noticeably relatable to you and the things you are going through on a day to day basis. My friend and I like to do a chapter a night and then talk about what stuck out to us most. Personally, taking it one chapter at a time works well for me because then I get to stop and really reflect on those pages I just read. If you are a young Christian woman looking for a new devotional to start up this year I highly recommend this one!

In 2016 I am going to try my best to not stray from my daily devotions no matter how busy life may get and I encourage you to do the same! Life gets so busy and crazy for all of us but don’t let that stop you from taking 15-20 mins a day to get in that special “me” time with God.
